The United States has imposed new sanctions on Iranian officials, including the head of Evin prison and commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Sanctions have been imposed on 10 people for the "brutal ongoing crackdown" in Iran, the Finance Ministry said. "Forty days after the tragic death of Mahsa Amini, Iranians continue to boldly protest the crackdown and disruption to Internet access," said Assistant Secretary of the Treasury Brian E. Nelson.
The United States is imposing new sanctions on Iranian officials overseeing organizations engaged in violent crackdowns and killings, including children, as part of our commitment to hold all levels of the Iranian government accountable for their actions.
Two senior IRGC leaders have been sanctioned, as have provincial officials from Sistan and Balochistan provinces, which have been the scene of some of the deadliest acts of violence against protesters since demonstrations began last month.
