Trump to pay $1 million to settle "frivolous" lawsuit by Hilary Clinton

  Former US president Donald Trump and his attorneys were fined almost $1 million on Thursday for filing a "frivolous" lawsuit alleging that Hillary Clinton tried to rig the 2016 election. The Republican, who wants to run for president again in 2024, was accused by District Judge John Middlebrooks of engaging in a "continuous pattern of judicial abuse" and filing the lawsuit "in order to dishonestly push a political narrative." The complaint, which Middlebrooks dismissed last year, claimed that Clinton and others had spread a false story about Trump's campaign's collusion with Russia. Trump had requested $70 million in compensation. In the 45-page written court judgement, Middlebrooks stated that the lawsuit "should never had been launched."
