Karan Johar, an Indian filmmaker and television personality, has said that many forces in the Bollywood industry wanted Brahmastra to flop. He said that their comments about Brahmastra went from being critical to blatantly negative. However, Karan did not mention anyone’s name.
He reportedly told Bollywood Hungama, “Sometimes people
within the Bollywood industry, who call themselves members of the media also,
celebrate the ruination of a film. I feel that is a bad thing.”
Brahmastra opened to a great response at the box office on
September 9. The film has collected more than Rs 425 crore worldwide.
Brahmastra: Part One Shiva is an action-adventure film, directed by Ayan Mukerji. The first part of the film marks the beginning of a trilogy. The second part of the trilogy has been named Brahmastra Part Two Dev.
Brahmastra: Part One Shiva revolves around the character of Shiva, played by Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor. Shiva shares a special connection with the fire. The film also features Alia Bhatt as the female lead and marks her first collaboration with her husband. Brahmastra also features Nagarjuna, Mouni Roy and Amitabh Bachchan. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has a cameo as a scientist in the film.
Earlier, there was speculation that the film’s budget was Rs 410 crores excluding the print and publicity expenses. However, Karan said that the entire budget is allocated to all three films of the trilogy and not just to the first part of Brahmastra.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, he said, “It’s a three-film budget. There are three films. So, it cannot be allocated to just one part of the film. I believe that when all three films are made, it will be a big monetary success for all of us.”
Karan also said at the FICCI Frames Fast Track 2022 event, “The budget has not been broken down into film 1, film 2 or film 3. It is for the entire trilogy.”
