Hans Grundberg,
the United Nations (UN) Special Envoy for Yemen, was greeted by Dr. Anwar
Gargash, the President of the UAE's diplomatic adviser. The current
developments in the Yemeni issue and international efforts to find a peaceful
resolution were topics of discussion between the two parties during the
conference.
The recent
negotiations by Grundberg and other international parties to extend the
cease-fire in Yemen and reach a permanent cease-fire were also discussed at the
meeting. It was also decided to encourage the involved parties to resume talks
and find a peaceful solution.
According to Dr.
Gargash, the UAE is in favour of international measures to preserve Yemen's
stability and alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people, who are dealing
with terrible humanitarian situations.
He also praised
Saudi Arabia's contribution to the UN and the international community's efforts
to find a diplomatic solution to the issue. He also mentioned the Yemeni
government's favourable response to the UN's recommendations for prolonging the
cease-fire and reaffirmed his support for the Yemeni Presidential Council.
Grundberg praised
the UAE for its important role when discussing the efforts of all Yemeni
parties and the international community to achieve a truce.
