Amini's parents and brother have been "held at home" by the authorities said Erfan Mortazei from the Kurdish region of Iraq. Thousands of people flocked to the Saqez city cemetery, where Amini's grave is located, on Wednesday. stands to commemorate 40 days since his death. On Tuesday, state media released an alleged statement from Amini's family that they would not hold a memorial service the next day. Mr. Mortazei said that this statement was written by the authorities and was immediately rejected by the family.
His brother has been threatened with arrest in recent days, he added.
"Zhina and thousands like her sacrificed their lives so that the
Iranian people could live in freedom," Mr Mortazei said,
referring to Mahsa by her Kurdish birth name. "I hope that
the Iranian people will continue to take to the streets until they achieve
their goals.
