UAE medics evacuated from Gaza return home safely

  Six volunteer medics from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were evacuated from Gaza, a Palestinian exclave on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, on Thursday. The medics returned safely to the UAE after fleeing the Gaza strip after Israeli air strikes pounded the enclave on Saturday. The latest strikes between Israeli forces and militant groups in Gaza led to the killing of 33 Palestinians. An intense bombardment began on May 9 at the Palestinian exclave. It injured at least 147 people. Two Israelis were also killed in the latest violence between Israel and the Hamas militant group in Gaza. Reportedly, a ceasefire brokered by Egypt helped to calm the situation. Earlier, a team of UAE medics went to the Gaza Strip to deliver paediatric care and training for emergency doctors in the enclave. They wanted to help people affected by the conflict in the region.
