UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. The new orders subindex rose sharply to 59.3 in December from 58.0 in the previous month, reflecting strong domestic demand. The UAE launches mobile clinics in Sindh Province in Pakistan

 

UAE launches

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has launched mobile clinics to provide diagnostic, curative and preventive services for children, women and elderly people affected by floods in Sindh province in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Emirates Field Hospital will contribute to rapid medical response for those who require urgent medical assistance. The field hospital has been established with the participation of UAE and Pakistani volunteer doctors in the Emirates Medical Relief Program under the slogan “Do not paralyse them” and under the supervision of the UAE Embassy in Islamabad and the Consulate General, I have Karachi.

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed AlNahyan issued directives to provide urgent aid to children, women and elderly people affected by floods in the Sindh province.

Dr Adel Al-Shamry Al-Ajmi, Emirati cardiac surgeon, CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative, President of the Emirates Doctors and Director of the Emirates Medical Relief Team, said that the mobile clinics in the province are equipped with the latest medical equipment that includes mobile units specially made according to safety standards.

Imran Muhammad Abdullah, a member of the Board of Directors of Dar Al Ber Society, said that the Emirati and Pakistani medical teams have done an excellent job in the field of specialised health humanitarian work through their presence in flood areas.

Sultan Al Khayal, Secretary General of the Sharjah Charity House Foundation, said that the mobile clinics of the Emirates Field Hospital succeeded in reaching remote areas where people required urgent treatment.

Dr Mumtaz Al Balushi, Director of Pakistan Doctors, praised the role of the UAE in the field of humanitarian work as the UAE’s aid helped significantly to treat thousands of needy.

When the flood hit Pakistan, the UAE’s president ordered urgent aid to Pakistan. The UAE also sent 3,000 tonnes of food and medical and pharmaceutical supplies to flood victims. The Joint Operations Command of the Ministry of Defence continued humanitarian operations in Pakistan through an air bridge, transferring urgent aid to the flood victims.
