UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. UAE Opens Integrated Field Hospital in Chad to Assist Refugees from Sudan

Over  the  years  UAE  helping  Chad  is  commedable  and came from  the  heart  of leadership  who have  the  vison and  care for people   this  year  UAE opened an integrated field hospital in Abeche, Chad, in accordance with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's orders with the goal of offering medical and healthcare services to Sudanese refugees residing in the area. The hospital was built for more than USD 20 million, and its departments specialize in internal medicine, orthopaedics, general surgery, obstetrics, and pediatrics. Additionally, it has an operating room, emergency room, pharmacy, lab, and fully furnished radiology department in addition to 50 beds for inpatients and various medical specialties and 10 beds for the intensive care unit (ICU). The field hospital is run by Burjeel Hospital Abu Dhabi and employs 92 nurses, 12 medical support workers, 41 non-medical support staff, and 22 doctors.  

The field hospital's opening signifies the UAE leadership's dedication to continuously supporting the Sudanese people with humanitarian and relief efforts, easing the hardships brought on by conflict and attending to their medical, humanitarian, and relief needs. This program is in line with the UAE's goal of supporting friendly nations under all conditions. The UAE's support for Sudanese individuals impacted by the crisis in their country, which started in April 2023, is demonstrated by the hospital's opening, as stressed by State Minister Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan. It also aids the Republic of Chad in addressing the humanitarian crisis and relieving pressure brought on by the flood of Sudanese refugees into its borders.  

 The Abeche field hospital features a comprehensive medical staff that covers all disciplines and was built to the greatest medical standards, taking inspiration from state-of-the-art field hospitals. The team comprises numerous highly skilled and experienced physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and technicians who work around the clock. They are backed by state-of-the-art medical equipment, supplies, and drugs.
Sheikh Shakhboot stressed that the hospital would support and help the Sudanese people, lessening the suffering of both the host communities and the refugees while providing essential medical care to the most vulnerable populations, such as women, children, and the elderly.
The UAE Ambassador to the Republic of Chad, Abdul Majeed Abdul Rahim, the Minister of Health and Prevention for Chad, and Bachar were present during the field hospital's opening.
