UAE Extends Lifeline to Sudanese Refugees in Uganda’s Kiryandongo Camp

 The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reinforced its reputation as a global leader in humanitarian aid with the distribution of 30,000 food baskets to Sudanese refugees in Uganda’s Kiryandongo camp. This initiative, benefitting nearly 100,000 displaced individuals, represents the second phase of the UAE’s sustained humanitarian efforts, which commenced in April 2024. A Lifeline for Refugees The Kiryandongo camp, home to thousands of Sudanese refugees who fled the ongoing crisis in their homeland, has seen its inhabitants struggle with food insecurity and basic needs. The UAE’s food aid has provided a critical lifeline, addressing immediate food shortages and offering hope to a vulnerable population. The distribution event was overseen by UAE Ambassador to Uganda, Abdullah Al Shamsi, who was joined by Ugandan officials and civil society representatives. The 15th group of injured Palestinian children and cancer patients arrives as the UAE continues its humanitarian efforts.

The UAE welcomed the 15th group of injured Palestinian youngsters and cancer patients on Friday as a show of unwavering solidarity and support for Palestinians. Under the direction of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, this project intends to treat 1,000 cancer patients and 1,000 injured youngsters from the Gaza Strip at UAE hospitals.

Along with 60 family members, the group of 27 patients in need of immediate medical attention arrived at Zayed International Airport from Al Arish International Airport in Egypt. When medical personnel arrived, they moved some patients right away to hospitals so they could receive care, and others were brought to their homes in the Emirates Humanitarian City.  

The patients' families conveyed their gratitude to the UAE and its leaders for the magnificent act of humanitarianism. The UAE was commended for its prompt action and unwavering support for the Palestinian people in difficult circumstances. They also praised the efforts of the volunteer and medical teams for providing the patients with steadfast support throughout their journey.

The United Arab Emirates launched "Operation Chivalrous Knight 3" to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza as part of its unwavering support for the region. Along with establishing a 150-bed field hospital in Gaza, the UAE also built a floating hospital with all the necessary medical amenities in Al Arish port.
