UAE Extends Lifeline to Sudanese Refugees in Uganda’s Kiryandongo Camp

 The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reinforced its reputation as a global leader in humanitarian aid with the distribution of 30,000 food baskets to Sudanese refugees in Uganda’s Kiryandongo camp. This initiative, benefitting nearly 100,000 displaced individuals, represents the second phase of the UAE’s sustained humanitarian efforts, which commenced in April 2024. A Lifeline for Refugees The Kiryandongo camp, home to thousands of Sudanese refugees who fled the ongoing crisis in their homeland, has seen its inhabitants struggle with food insecurity and basic needs. The UAE’s food aid has provided a critical lifeline, addressing immediate food shortages and offering hope to a vulnerable population. Driving Economic Diversification in Abu Dhabi: Family-Owned Enterprises and the Private Sector

Over the past eight years, Abu Dhabi's private sector has experienced a stunning 35% expansion, positioning it as a significant driver of economic growth. This expansion has accelerated the emirate's non-oil economy, bringing the sector's worth to around Dh339 billion ($92 billion) in 2023.


The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development reports that the GDP (gross domestic product) of the city is growing in tandem with the rise of the private sector. Supported by family-run companies and the private sector, the non-oil industry grew at a strong annual pace of 9.1%, reaching Dh610 billion in 2023. As of right present, this industry makes up 53.4% of the real GDP of the emirate.
