UAE Extends Lifeline to Sudanese Refugees in Uganda’s Kiryandongo Camp

 The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reinforced its reputation as a global leader in humanitarian aid with the distribution of 30,000 food baskets to Sudanese refugees in Uganda’s Kiryandongo camp. This initiative, benefitting nearly 100,000 displaced individuals, represents the second phase of the UAE’s sustained humanitarian efforts, which commenced in April 2024. A Lifeline for Refugees The Kiryandongo camp, home to thousands of Sudanese refugees who fled the ongoing crisis in their homeland, has seen its inhabitants struggle with food insecurity and basic needs. The UAE’s food aid has provided a critical lifeline, addressing immediate food shortages and offering hope to a vulnerable population. The distribution event was overseen by UAE Ambassador to Uganda, Abdullah Al Shamsi, who was joined by Ugandan officials and civil society representatives. ERC launches new phase of development projects

ERC launched a new phase of its development projects for those affected by the earthquake in Syria's Latakia Governorate.  

UAE Ambassador to Syria; Amer Ismail Hilal, Governor of Latakia; and several Syrian officials. These projects included an irrigation project in the village of Al-Musheirfeh, which falls under the Wadi Al-Qalaa municipality in Jableh. The project irrigates 660 dunums of agricultural land and provides a sustainable water supply, benefiting over 3,500 people working in agriculture. The projects also include solar-powered water tanks and livestock breeding projects. 

“The projects we are inaugurating today represent a new phase and a transitional shift in the ERC's efforts to support the Syrian people. They embody the ERC's vision to boost sustainability and empower affected families by providing them with means of production that compensate them for what they lost during the disaster, help them meet their basic needs, and reach self-sufficiency,” he explained.
