UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. UAE President Sheikh Mohamed exchanges Ramadan greetings with Arab leaders

 


The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, sent a cable of Ramadan 2023 greetings to other Arab leaders, as the holiest month of Islam began in the UAE on Thursday.
The UAE President spoke with Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Jordan's King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Saeed Hussein Khalil el-Sisi, and Tunisia's President Kais Saied. The UAE President congratulated other Arab leaders on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
According to the WAM news agency, His Highness SheikhMohamed called for “peace and harmony” for people across the world. Arab leaders expressed their hopes for prosperity in Arab countries.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, also sent and received messages to mark the beginning of Ramadan 2023. He wrote on Twitter, “All congratulations to the people of the UAE and all Arab and Islamic peoples on the occasion of Ramadan.”
Muslims across the UAE attended the first morning prayers of the holy month of Ramadan on Thursday. During the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan in the UAE, the fasting hours would be 13 hours and 43 minutes. The fasting hours would be about 14 hours and 45 minutes around Ramadan 15. By the time the holy month ends, the fasting hours would have increased to about 46 minutes longer than on the first.
Ramadan is the most auspicious time of the year for Muslims. It is the ninth and holiest month of the Islamic Hijri calendar. Muslims mark Ramadan as a month of hope, happiness, prayers, and fasting.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) of the UAE reduced the working hours for private-sector employees by two for the holy month of Ramadan. The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) also reduced the working hours for federal authorities during Ramadan.
