  The United Arab Emirates has dispatched its 18th aid aircraft carrying 40 tonnes of essential medical supplies to Lebanon as part of the “UAE Stands with Lebanon” campaign. This ongoing initiative, launched in early October, aims to provide critical food, medical, and shelter supplies to the Lebanese population, who continue to face severe hardships due to ongoing conflict. The holy month of Ramadan is expected to begin in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on March 23. The exact date of Ramadan would be announced on March 22 at night by the moon-sighting committee, which sees the new crescent moon every month and reports it promptly.

The UAE has announced several measures for the holy month of Ramadan. Recently, the UAE announced working hours for federal government employees during Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims across the world.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, a State government office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, said that working hours during Ramadan would start at 9 am and end at 2.30 pm from Monday to Thursday and from 9 am until noon on Fridays. According to the WAM news agency, federal departments can implement flexible working or remote work schedules during the holy month of Ramadan.

Sharjah Municipality also announced new rules for food outlets during fasting hours in the holy month. Restaurants and food outlets are required to get the necessary permits to operate in the daytime during the holy month of Ramadan. The fee is AED 3,000 to obtain a permit in order to operate and display food during the daytime in Ramadan. The fee is AED 500 to obtain a permit in order to display foods in front of the premises before the iftar.

Ramadan is believed to be the holy month when the Quran was revealed to the Prophet Mohammed. Muslims across the world fast from sunrise to sunset during Ramadan. They pray and increase the recitation of the Quran during the holy month. It is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. It is the biggest festival for Muslims worldwide.

This year, Ramadan will be observed in the UAE without any Covid-related restrictions.
