The United Arab Emirates has dispatched its 18th aid aircraft carrying 40 tonnes of essential medical supplies to Lebanon as part of the “UAE Stands with Lebanon” campaign. This ongoing initiative, launched in early October, aims to provide critical food, medical, and shelter supplies to the Lebanese population, who continue to face severe hardships due to ongoing conflict. In close collaboration with international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), UAE humanitarian organizations are playing a pivotal role in delivering life-saving aid to Lebanon’s vulnerable communities. The UAE's effective fight against human trafficking has proven to be a model for the rest of the world.

UAE

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is widely regarded as an important partner in the global fight against human trafficking. The country has implemented a number of effective measures to combat all forms of human trafficking and is committed to completely eliminating this crime.

In addition, in 2009, the UAE ratified the UN Protocol to Prevent, Suppress, and Punish Trafficking in Persons, particularly women and children, as amended in 2013. Law No. 51 of 2006 was amended to harmonize it, and the law was strengthened further in February 2015 to provide better support and protection to victims and witnesses, as well as to raise awareness of human trafficking crimes.

Under Cabinet Resolution No. 15 of 2007, the UAE established the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking to ensure the effective implementation of anti-trafficking laws. This committee, which consists of 18 representatives from various federal and local institutions, is in charge of coordinating efforts to ensure effective law enforcement, raising community awareness of crime, and providing necessary training and rehabilitation programs for law enforcement officers.

The UAE has also implemented a national strategy to combat human trafficking, with the goal of achieving prevention, prosecution, and punishment, as well as protecting victims and strengthening international cooperation. The committee issues an annual report that tracks the country's progress in the prevention and fight against this crime.

In addition, the UAE has established national institutions to provide asylum, shelter, and support services to victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. The "Shelter Centers for Women and Children," the "Abu Dhabi Center for Shelter and Humanitarian Care," the "Dubai Foundation for Women and Children," the Sharjah Department Center for Social Services and Women's Protection," and the "Social Support Centers in Abu Dhabi affiliated with the Abu Dhabi Police," as well as the "General Humanitarian Center," are among these institutions

In order to strengthen its leadership and progress in the fight against human trafficking, the UAE also signed the "UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime" in 2007, the "Palermo Protocol" in 2008, and the UN "United Against Human Trafficking" initiative in 2010. The country has frequently hosted the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Trafficking, who has praised the country's progress.

Finally, the UAE has taken a comprehensive approach to combating human trafficking, including the passage of strong legislation, the establishment of national institutions, the adoption of a national strategy, and the strengthening of regional and international cooperation. In the fight against this heinous crime, the country's efforts serve as a model for other nations to emulate.
