UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. The new orders subindex rose sharply to 59.3 in December from 58.0 in the previous month, reflecting strong domestic demand. With the launch of the "Smart Mission" project, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has once again demonstrated its commitment to innovation and technology. H.H. launched the project. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is the world's first of its kind, with the goal of providing customers with a simple and comprehensive services process at the country's embassies around the world.

The "Smart Mission" project is in line with the UAE's "We the UAE 2031" vision of sustainable development and innovation, as well as the UAE's Year of Sustainability. The project also adheres to the 50 Principles and the UAE Strategy for Government Services 2021-2025. 

One of the project's standout features is the incorporation of facial recognition technology, which will greatly improve the efficiency of customer services. Customers will be able to complete transactions more quickly and securely, while also reducing the risk of fraud, thanks to this technology.

Aside from customer benefits, the "Smart Mission" project is expected to contribute to the achievement of the UAE Centennial 2071 objectives. This initiative seeks to prepare the UAE for the next 50 years by emphasizing sustainability, innovation, and resilience.
