UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. UAE Celebrates Low Global Tuberculosis Rates on World Tuberculosis Day: MoHAP's Collaborative Efforts Prove Effective in Disease Control

On March 24, World Tuberculosis Day, the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) reported that the UAE had the lowest incidence of tuberculosis in the world. The implementation of efficient prevention techniques and programs to control and curb the disease is the outcome of the combined efforts between MoHAP and local health authorities, and it has been accomplished. 

MoHAP has created a successful follow-up system and has consistently supplied efficient tuberculosis medications in order to establish standardized surveillance procedures. The Ministry has also launched tuberculosis screening programs and strengthened the competence of TB healthcare providers. Children are also immunized as a preventative precaution at birth. 

The significance of the global day being observed with the slogan "Yes! TB can be eradicated! ”. The UAE actively participated in the adoption of the regional strategy to end tuberculosis in the Eastern Mediterranean region, and it is still dedicated to assisting international efforts to eradicate tuberculosis by the year 2050 through scientific research, creative solutions, and medications. The nation's efforts are in accordance with the worldwide plan to eradicate the illness as well as the UN Sustainable Development Goals. 

The Ministry has started a number of community-based health initiatives and programs to encourage early diagnosis, immunization, and infection prevention while raising public awareness of tuberculosis. These programs, which are directed at many societal groups, including the workforce, involve interactive lectures in Arabic, English, and Urdu. Additionally, the Ministry offers free medical exams to employees and disseminates instructional content on numerous social media websites. Also, MoHAP has worked with many government and tourism organizations in the nation to take part in a global campaign to fight tuberculosis by red-lighting a significant monument.
