UAE Extends Lifeline to Sudanese Refugees in Uganda’s Kiryandongo Camp

 The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reinforced its reputation as a global leader in humanitarian aid with the distribution of 30,000 food baskets to Sudanese refugees in Uganda’s Kiryandongo camp. This initiative, benefitting nearly 100,000 displaced individuals, represents the second phase of the UAE’s sustained humanitarian efforts, which commenced in April 2024. A Lifeline for Refugees The Kiryandongo camp, home to thousands of Sudanese refugees who fled the ongoing crisis in their homeland, has seen its inhabitants struggle with food insecurity and basic needs. The UAE’s food aid has provided a critical lifeline, addressing immediate food shortages and offering hope to a vulnerable population. The distribution event was overseen by UAE Ambassador to Uganda, Abdullah Al Shamsi, who was joined by Ugandan officials and civil society representatives. US and UAE Expand Their Space Exploration Collaboration

Senior representatives from the US and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reaffirmed their shared commitment to boosting cooperation and developing scientific and technical cooperation in aeronautics and human space exploration. 

Expanding on the recent announcement of cooperation to support NASA's Gateway, the first lunar space station ever, NASA administrator Bill Nelson commended the strengthening alliance, emphasizing how the US and the United Arab Emirates have a solid and expanding partnership. The partnership intends to advance both human space travel in the future and the Artemis program.  

From the Gateway program to exploring Mars' atmosphere, our two nations' partnership continues to go from strength to strength," stated UAE Ambassador to the US Yousef Al Otaiba, "the UAE is proud to work with partners across the US to build upon humanity's collective understanding of the cosmos. No height is off limits when it comes to our common goals.
