UAE Extends Lifeline to Sudanese Refugees in Uganda’s Kiryandongo Camp

 The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reinforced its reputation as a global leader in humanitarian aid with the distribution of 30,000 food baskets to Sudanese refugees in Uganda’s Kiryandongo camp. This initiative, benefitting nearly 100,000 displaced individuals, represents the second phase of the UAE’s sustained humanitarian efforts, which commenced in April 2024. A Lifeline for Refugees The Kiryandongo camp, home to thousands of Sudanese refugees who fled the ongoing crisis in their homeland, has seen its inhabitants struggle with food insecurity and basic needs. The UAE’s food aid has provided a critical lifeline, addressing immediate food shortages and offering hope to a vulnerable population. The distribution event was overseen by UAE Ambassador to Uganda, Abdullah Al Shamsi, who was joined by Ugandan officials and civil society representatives. UAE Increases Aid to Palestinians in Gaza Throughout Ramadan.

Humanitarian aid for Palestinians in Gaza will be increased during Ramadan, according to the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council, which has the support of humanitarian organizations in the United Arab Emirates. The objective is to deliver prompt and well-coordinated aid, with a focus on vulnerable groups like women, children, and the elderly.

With a focus on healthcare, religious observance, and basic necessities, the UAE's Ramadan aid programs for Palestinians show its steadfast commitment to promoting solidarity with the Palestinian people. The World Health Organization, USA National Committee, WFP, and UNRWA are all involved in the coordination of these initiatives.  

Through the use of 922 trucks, 212 airplanes, and 3 cargo ships, about 21,000 tonnes of food, medical supplies, and housing materials have been distributed. This program demonstrates the UAE's commitment to helping the underprivileged and resolving the Gaza humanitarian issue.
