UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. The new orders subindex rose sharply to 59.3 in December from 58.0 in the previous month, reflecting strong domestic demand. According to the United Nations Development Programme, the UAE has advanced to the seventh rank internationally in the Gender Inequality Index 2024, marking a significant milestone in gender balance. From its 49th position in 2015 to its 11th rank in 2022, this represents an incredible journey. The UAE Gender Balance Council thanks H.H.'s innovative leadership and unwavering support for this achievement. Among other important people is Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Chairwoman of the General Women's Union.  

The council underlined the UAE's dedication to strengthening women in the social, political, and economic arenas in order to create a society that is more inclusive and affluent. This accomplishment is largely due to the solid collaboration between public and private sector entities.

H.H. The UAE Gender Balance Council President, Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, emphasized the country's commitment to advancing women's participation in positions of decision-making. She emphasized the value of international collaborations in promoting gender parity and women's empowerment. 

The UAE Gender Balance Council's dedication to promoting gender equality around the world is demonstrated by its attendance at the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women. The conference, which takes place in New York, offers a venue for exchanging best practices and creating alliances for sustainable development.

The UAE's work toward reaching gender parity is indicative of its larger dedication to realizing the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN. The goal of the council's participation in international forums, such the Committee on the Status of Women, is to further solidify the UAE's position as a leader in gender parity and support the development of inclusive and successful communities across the globe.
