UAE Extends Lifeline to Sudanese Refugees in Uganda’s Kiryandongo Camp

 The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reinforced its reputation as a global leader in humanitarian aid with the distribution of 30,000 food baskets to Sudanese refugees in Uganda’s Kiryandongo camp. This initiative, benefitting nearly 100,000 displaced individuals, represents the second phase of the UAE’s sustained humanitarian efforts, which commenced in April 2024. A Lifeline for Refugees The Kiryandongo camp, home to thousands of Sudanese refugees who fled the ongoing crisis in their homeland, has seen its inhabitants struggle with food insecurity and basic needs. The UAE’s food aid has provided a critical lifeline, addressing immediate food shortages and offering hope to a vulnerable population. The distribution event was overseen by UAE Ambassador to Uganda, Abdullah Al Shamsi, who was joined by Ugandan officials and civil society representatives. Today, UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Turkey, talked on the phone to greet each other with congratulations and best wishes for Eid Al-Adha. In their discussion, both leaders wished each other well, acknowledging the importance of this holiday being a time of sacrifice, unity and self-reflection 

The two leaders’ exchange is proof of the strong bilateral relations between the UAE and Türkiye, showing their dedication to peace and stability in the region and beyond. In the face of global difficulties, this shows the leaders of these countries are aware of the strength that comes when we come together and work together toward similar objectives. 

At a time when the world is facing difficulties like never before such an inspiration as leaders’ advocacy for peace and prosperity is encouraging. Best wishes for Eid Al-Adha from them both indicate their hope that for once nations may form a union where they coexist peacefully.
