UAE Extends Lifeline to Sudanese Refugees in Uganda’s Kiryandongo Camp

 The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reinforced its reputation as a global leader in humanitarian aid with the distribution of 30,000 food baskets to Sudanese refugees in Uganda’s Kiryandongo camp. This initiative, benefitting nearly 100,000 displaced individuals, represents the second phase of the UAE’s sustained humanitarian efforts, which commenced in April 2024. A Lifeline for Refugees The Kiryandongo camp, home to thousands of Sudanese refugees who fled the ongoing crisis in their homeland, has seen its inhabitants struggle with food insecurity and basic needs. The UAE’s food aid has provided a critical lifeline, addressing immediate food shortages and offering hope to a vulnerable population. The distribution event was overseen by UAE Ambassador to Uganda, Abdullah Al Shamsi, who was joined by Ugandan officials and civil society representatives. H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Advisor, met today with Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, in Seattle. Their meeting, aimed at fostering cooperation and partnership relations, concentrated on advanced technology development 

The topic of discussion was to create digital environments implement smart solutions aimed at supporting increased possibilities for innovation and growth in different sectors. Both of them talked about how advanced technology would help develop a vibrant economy. 

Abu Dhabi and Microsoft have reached a critical point in their cooperation climbing up the ladder. Cutting-edge technology, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing were amongst the topics of their discussion during the meeting. The goal of this collaboration between Sheikh Tahnoon and Nadella is to create a situation where invention triggers economic growth and better living standards for everybody across the globe. In different fields around the world, such as technological advancement and social progress at the global level, highly valuable breakthroughs are expected as a result of the long-term collaboration between Abu Dhabi and Microsoft.
