UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. The new orders subindex rose sharply to 59.3 in December from 58.0 in the previous month, reflecting strong domestic demand. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has shared Etihad Rail’s plan to roll out a luxury train across the country. Etihad Rail, the UAE national railway network, has partnered with Italian luxury hospitality company, Arsenale, to launch the luxury train.

‘Etihad Rail - The UAE's National Rail Project’ aims to connect the country's key centres of trade. It also aims to promote Emirati culture and heritage.

Reportedly, Shadi Malak, CEO of Etihad Rail, said that the collaboration with Arsenale highlights Etihad Rail's commitment to boosting the economy of the UAE through the National Rail Network.

Shadi Malak said that the luxury train would help to boost the tourism sector in the UAE. He further said, “We will be able to showcase the UAE's diverse heritage and beauty to tourists from around the world.”

Paolo Barletta, chief executive of Arsenale, expressed happiness in working on this prestigious project. The chief executive said, “We are happy to work together with Etihad Rail on this project.”

About Etihad Rail’s luxury train

Etihad Rail’s luxury train will travel across the UAE towards the border with Oman. It will cover key routes of Abu Dhabi, the Capital of the UAE, Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain. It will also pass through the Liwa Desert and its famous oasis near Mezeiraa train station.

The luxury train will contain 15 luxury coaches. It aims to provide great passenger services to people. Paolo said that the team is ready to work tirelessly on this project.

When is the rollout of the Etihad luxury train?

No date has been announced yet for the rollout of the Etihad luxury train.

How many carriages will be there on the train?

The luxury train will contain 15 luxury carriages. Italian company Arsenale said, "The UAE is one of the first countries in the world to have a luxury cruise service with a fully customised train."
