The Abu Dhabi Police apprehended three people after discovering 2.25 million Captagon pills in containers labeled as dried apricots.
The traffickers, according to the
authorities, planned to sell the illegal drugs in the United Arab Emirates and
ship the remainder to a nearby Middle Eastern country.
One million of these pills were for the
local market, while the remaining tablets were for smuggling, according to
Brigadier General Taher Al Dhaheri, the director of the anti-narcotics section
for the Abu Dhabi Police.
According to Al Dhaheri, the coordination
and collaboration with UAE officials helped make the operation successful. The
operation, according to him, was successful because of a thorough preparation
and cooperation with UAE officials.
After being discovered concealed in three
separate residences in a neighboring emirate, the narcotics were seized.
Additionally, the equipment used to package the tablets was taken.
To counteract the risks presented by
narcotics, Brigadier General Taher emphasized the importance of working with
pertinent organizations.
He urged people to come forward with any
information on drug-related offenses. He said that the actions of the Abu Dhabi
Police had been successful in reducing drug trafficking and had resulted in
several seizures.
He continued by saying that the police
department's main objective is to safeguard society, especially the youth, from
drugs' negative impacts.
They also strive to preserve social
stability, promote security, and improve crime prevention measures.
