UAE’s Lifeline to Lebanon: 18th Aid Plane Delivers Vital Medical Supplies Amidst Crisis

  The United Arab Emirates has dispatched its 18th aid aircraft carrying 40 tonnes of essential medical supplies to Lebanon as part of the “UAE Stands with Lebanon” campaign. This ongoing initiative, launched in early October, aims to provide critical food, medical, and shelter supplies to the Lebanese population, who continue to face severe hardships due to ongoing conflict. In close collaboration with international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), UAE humanitarian organizations are playing a pivotal role in delivering life-saving aid to Lebanon’s vulnerable communities. UAE President Sheikh Mohamed visits Pakistan

The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, travelled to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on Wednesday. He was accompanied by Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed, a member of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed, Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan, Adviser to the President; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs in the Presidential Court.

The UAE President landed in Rahim Yar Khan, a city in the Punjab province of Pakistan. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif greeted His Highness at Chandana Airport.

The two leaders also held a meeting. According to WAM, the UAE President and the Pakistani Prime Minister discussed long-standing relations between the two countries. They also discussed various regional and international issues of common concern.

During the meeting, the Pakistani leader reflected on the close ties between the two countries. He lauded the "long-standing historical friendship between the two countries.”

Ali bin Hamad Al Shamsi, the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for National Security of the UAE, and Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al Zaabi, the UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, also accompanied the two leaders.

Earlier this month, the two leaders held a telephone conversation. The two leaders called for further development in bilateral ties between the two countries. The Pakistani Prime Minister thanked High Highness for UAE’s support during the recent flood crisis in Pakistan.

Two weeks ago, the Pakistani Prime Minister visited Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE. Sharif, who was on his third tour to the UAE after assuming his office in April 2022, met with the UAE President. Sharif thanked the UAE government and its leadership for supporting Pakistan to overcome the effects of last year's devastating floods.

During his visit to the UAE, three memoranda of understanding were signed in the fields of combating human trafficking, information exchange and cooperation.
