miraculous recovery

A 46-year-old woman with severe multiple health complications has made a miraculous recovery after spending over 9 months in the hospital in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Saritah Parathodi Thekkepat, an Indian expat in UAE, was completely dependent on other family members for all daily activities due to her health issues. She was completely bedridden after suffering a multifocal hemorrhagic stroke, flaccid paralysis and acute kidney failure. She had minimal or no functional movement in both upper and lower limbs as she suffered from impaired sensation.

She was treated at NMC Provita International Medical Centre, one of the best UAE hospitals. She was discharged on July 13, 2022. She recovered after nine months because of the efficiency of UAE Healthcare. The condition of the female patient improved drastically upon discharge compared to the condition in which she was admitted.

Dr Al Khayer, NMC, reportedly said, “She had a very complicated hospital course, presented with sepsis, secondary to strangulated umbilical hernia, multi-organ failure and an acute stroke.”

Formation of a Multidisciplinary medical team

Upon Saritah Parathodi Thekkepat’s admission to the UAE, a multidisciplinary team consisting of physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, dietitians, psychologists and nurses was formed to help her. This shows that each and every patient is important for hospitals and doctors in the UAE.
