Amber Heard secretly sells the home after defamation trial loss

Hollywood actress Amber Heard secretly sold her home in Southern California for a big profit after she lost the defamation trial in June. Recently, she declared bankruptcy after being unable to pay the fine of the trial to her ex-husband Johnny Depp.

According to TMZ, Heard has begun raising some cash by selling her Yucca Valley home in the California desert for $1.05 million. After selling the house, she received a profit of about $500,000.

There’s some speculation about Heard’s ability to immediately cover the damages, which includes $10 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in punitive damages. She will also receive $2 million from Depp in a counter-lawsuit. She has to pay over $8 million to Depp. As soon as the jury announced the final verdict in June, Heard’s legal team explained to the judge that the actress would not have enough money to pay off the debt to Depp.

The reports of Heard selling her house came just days after she filed a notice to appeal against Depp in the defamation case. She filed a notice to appeal despite being denied a new trial request. Her request for a fresh trial in her defamation case against her ex-husband was denied by a Virginia court in July.

Heard’s attorneys asked the judge to declare a mistrial in July. They argued that one of the jurors chosen for the trial was not the same person who received the jury summons. They demanded that the trial be overturned, including the $10.35 million in damages given to Depp by the jury. Subsequently, Judge Penny Azcarate said there was “no evidence of fraud or wrongdoing” by the juror. She rejected all of the lawyer’s claims and said the juror issue specifically was irrelevant.

Depp’s representatives said that the payout decision would not be reversed.
