Johnny Depp Accused Of ‘Threatening Witnesses’ & Making Them Testify Against Amber Heard

Johnny Depp

American actor Johnny Depp has been making headlines after winning his defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard. However, the legal drama continues as both actors appeal the verdict.

Latest reports revealed that Depp allegedly made his legal team “threaten” the witnesses for winning the defamation case. As per The News, the documents stated that the “declarations were often obtained through threats and deception.” Reportedly, Laura Divenere testified that she only provided a declaration after Waldman (Johnny Depp’s lawyer) threatened her with negative consequences if she did not cooperate with him.

This month, Heard surprised people by declaring bankruptcy after being unable to pay the fine of the trial Depp. After the end of the trial, the jury ruled that Heard had to pay $10 million in damages to Depp. On the other hand, Depp would also have to pay $2 million as compensation to Heard. After the final verdict, Heard’s lawyers explained to the judge that Heard would not have enough money to pay off the debt to Depp.

In 2018, Heard wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post, in which she claimed to be a survivor of domestic abuse. Depp sued Heard for defamation because of that op-ed. Later on, Heard countersued Depp for $100 million in 2021. However, in 2022, Heard’s lawyers claimed that the actress was unaware of the headline of her article.

In July, Heard challenged the court’s final verdict in the defamation suit against Depp. Heard`s legal team submitted a motion demanding that the final decision in Depp`s trial be overturned, including the $10.35 million in damages given to Depp by the jury.

Earlier, Heard's insurance company also claimed that Depp was willingly defamed by his ex-wife. Moreover, the insurance company also refused to pay for the damages Heard owes Depp.
