Urgent Relief Efforts Struggle to Reach Earthquake-Hit Villages in Morocco

Amizmiz, a little community in Morocco's serene Atlas Mountains, has suddenly become a symbol of fortitude in the face of disaster. This charming community, like others in the vicinity, has been dealing with the devastation caused by a terrible earthquake. Despite getting some assistance, many necessary goods are still awaiting delivery, leaving locals concerned as stormy weather approaches.

The earthquake that rocked this region has brought the Amizmiz inhabitants to their knees. They have been relying on help supplied from collection centres in Marrakesh, which is around 55 km distant, after their homes were destroyed and their lives were upended. While these donations are a lifeline for the community, vital things have yet to arrive. Tents, blankets, and medicines, which are essential for their survival and comfort, are in short supply.

Six days after the earthquake, the sense of urgency in Amizmiz and surrounding communities is strong. With heavy weather on the way, the people are acutely aware of their hazardous condition. Adequate shelter and weather protection are critical, especially for people who have lost their houses.
