UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. The new orders subindex rose sharply to 59.3 in December from 58.0 in the previous month, reflecting strong domestic demand. The UAE's Humanitarian Response to Storm Daniel in Libya Is A Sign of Hope

 


Thousands of lives were lost or irreversibly affected when calamity hit, and communities experienced terrible destruction. In these moments of dire need, the UAE jumped into action, demonstrating its commitment to aiding its neighbouring nations in their darkest hours.  

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has directed the sending of search and rescue (SAR) teams to Libya. This quick response was more than just a logistical effort; it was an expression of solidarity, a sincere outreach to the Libyan people in the midst of calamity.   

The relief includes life-saving commodities such as shelter, food, medical supplies, and other essentials, all aimed at easing the pain of those afflicted. The ERC's assistance programme was established to provide a lifeline to communities that had been devastated by nature's fury. The UAE's SAR team arrived at Benina Airport in Libya on September 12th, ready to participate in the operation. 

In which the UAE carried out a humanitarian airlift operation to aid the Libyan people, involving the dispatch of 22 shipments totaling 503 tonnes of necessary supplies. Food, housing materials, medical parcels, and other important first-aid goods have been distributed in the most affected areas, mainly in eastern Libya. 

Proven that the UAE's humanitarian efforts serve as a powerful symbol of togetherness, perseverance, and constant support for those in need, providing a glimmer of light even in the darkest of hours.
