UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. The new orders subindex rose sharply to 59.3 in December from 58.0 in the previous month, reflecting strong domestic demand. Morocco Expresses Appreciation for International Assistance Following Earthquake

Following the strong earthquake that devastated Morocco on Friday night, King Mohammed VI has expressed his profound gratitude to various countries for their immediate support in attempting to ease the disaster's suffering. This act of solidarity emphasises the value of international cooperation during times of crises.    

As rescue efforts continue, the official death toll stands at a dismal 1,037, with 1,204 people injured and 721 in critical condition. Regrettably, these figures are expected to grow as rescue personnel work frantically to discover and assist survivors. 

During this  timen UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan exhibited outstanding leadership by directing the construction of an air bridge to speed the delivery of crucial aid to Morocco. The UAE's several emirates also expressed their sympathies to King Mohammed VI, wishing all those hurt in the earthquake a speedy recovery.   

In these challenging times, Morocco is grateful for the assistance and solidarity shown by nations close and distant.   This also demonstrates the perseverance of international solidarity and compassion in the face of tragedy.
