The United Arab Emirates has dispatched its 18th aid aircraft carrying 40 tonnes of essential medical supplies to Lebanon as part of the “UAE Stands with Lebanon” campaign. This ongoing initiative, launched in early October, aims to provide critical food, medical, and shelter supplies to the Lebanese population, who continue to face severe hardships due to ongoing conflict. In close collaboration with international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), UAE humanitarian organizations are playing a pivotal role in delivering life-saving aid to Lebanon’s vulnerable communities. This year has seen the introduction of a number of notable smartphones from reputable manufacturers, like the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and the iPhone 14 Pro. Additionally, novel smartphones like the Nothing Phone 1 were released, and foldable phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 saw advancements over earlier models. This year, powerful flagship-level smartphones were also released by businesses like Xiaomi and Vivo, giving customers even more options.

On this week's episode of Orbital, the Gadgets 360 podcast, host Akhil Arora discusses some of the top smartphones you can purchase in 2022 with Reviews Editor Roydon Cerejo and Senior Reviewer Sheldon Pinto.

We have seen a number of new smartphones from companies like Apple, Samsung, Vivo, Xiaomi, as well as the new upstart, Nothing, despite the ongoing supply chain crisis that has limited the availability of smartphones. This year, Apple introduced the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro series, competing with the Samsung Galaxy S22 and Google Pixel 7 lines. It's also important to note that the chipsets used by these three phones differ.

Sheldon claims that the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are fantastic smartphones with excellent software and camera performance. Despite having a lower battery, we loved that the Pixel 7 had greater battery life than the Pixel 7 Pro and may be the best Pixel phone currently available.

Two of the best iPhone models available today are the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, but we believe the price in India is too expensive. Apple added new features this year, like the Dynamic Island and a new 48-megapixel camera with improved zoom. Sheldon also contrasted the photographic capabilities of the Pixel 7 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro.

This year, Xiaomi also introduced the Xiaomi 12 Pro, its flagship smartphone, in India. Sheldon claims that Xiaomi's top-of-the-line device in India features a quad speaker setup, a potent Snapdragon chipset, and signals a change in strategy for the company. While the phone had a simple, subdued design, image quality was consistent.

The OnePlus 10 Pro, which debuted at the start of the year, is among the best smartphones the brand will release in 2022. According to Roydon, it might outperform the OnePlus 10T, which debuted later in the year without an alert slider. It is also an improvement over the OnePlus 9 Pro, the company's flagship phone from last year, he continues, barring a few odd camera-related decisions.

Next, we talk about the Samsung Galaxy Flip 4, a phone that transformed from a highly specialised item to a more practical one. Sheldon claims that the Galaxy Z Flip 3's predecessor's battery life and heating issues have been fixed, and that it is also much simpler to use while gaming.
