France will provide free condoms to young people

France

At an effort to decrease teen pregnancies, French President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday that condoms would be made freely available in pharmacies for persons aged 18 to 25.

In western France's Fontaine-le-Comte, a suburb of Poitiers, Macron remarked during a health discussion with young people, "It's a modest revolution for contraception."

In order to prevent young women from stopping using contraception because they cannot afford it, the government expanded a programme aimed at under-18s this year and started providing free birth control to all women under the age of 25.

In order to combat the spread of AIDS and other STDs, condoms are already covered by the country's healthcare system when recommended by a doctor or midwife.

general sexual education "We are not experts in this area. The theory and reality diverge dramatically. We need to significantly improve the education of our teachers in this area "Macron stated.

While the government considers how to respond to a rise in Covid cases ahead of the holidays, Macron wore a face mask at the conference, claiming that he was following "health ministry standards." However, mask regulations have not yet been reinstated

In light of the epidemic's recent development, he stated, "I believe it's important to set an example because we don't necessarily want to go back to general mandates."

As winter approaches, officials are advising individuals to obtain booster shots of the Covid vaccination and to wear masks in busy places.
