India and UAE can bridge 'East-West' divide to help end Ukraine war

Mr Jaishankar, speaking at a panel at the India international Forum in Abu Dhabi, same there are 2 major divisions in nowadays’s world. “One is that the East-West divide centring around state and therefore

the alternative may be a North-South divide centering around development,” he said. “Ukraine has a

control on development. I do believe a rustic like India will play that bridging role; not alone, however with countries like UAE. there's a desire today to bridge [the divides],” he said. Since the conflict began in February, leaders of the UAE and India have urged Russia and Ukraine to find a peaceful resolution.

Reiterating the UAE’s stand, Dr Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the President, said it is in the interest of everyone for the conflict to end quickly.

“The conflict will not end unless [it ends] politically. We need a political process to end the conflict,” said Dr Gargash, who shared the panel with Mr Jaishankar..
