UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. The new orders subindex rose sharply to 59.3 in December from 58.0 in the previous month, reflecting strong domestic demand. UAE ministers offer condolences to Indian PM Modi over the death of his mother

 


The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, offered his condolences to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the death of his mother, Heeraben Modi.

His Highness reportedly wrote on Twitter, “I offer my deepest condolences to my friend Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the passing of his mother, Heeraben Modi. Our heartfelt sympathies are with him and his family during this difficult time.”

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, also expressed condolences to PM Modi over the sad demise of his mother.

Several other world leaders also expressed grief and sent a cable of condolences to PM Modi. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida was the first person to send condolences to PM Modi. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, United States President Joe Biden and various other leaders condoled the death of Heeraben Modi. The US President reportedly wrote on Twitter, "Jill and I send our deepest and heartfelt condolences to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the loss of his mother.”

Heeraben Modi died at the age of 100 at the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre in Ahmedabad at 3:30 am on Friday. She was hospitalised on Wednesday. Her last rites took place in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. PM Modi and his brothers performed the last rites of their mother. Various Indian leaders were also present in Gandhinagar to offer condolences to PM Modi. Various opposition leaders from TMC and Indian National Congress also sent their condolences to Modi. They also expressed their grief on Twitter.

The chief minister of Gujarat, Bhupendra Patel, was seen with Modi on Friday. He also paid tribute to Heeraben Modi. Many leaders also visited Gujarat on Friday.
