The United Arab Emirates' capital, Abu Dhabi, shines brightly as a source of prospective chances in a report that highlights the city's economic achievements in 2023. The announcement of new economic licenses reaching AED 210.7 billion further solidifies the emirate's appeal as a location for talent, entrepreneurs, and investors.
The issuing of 24,143 licenses for the business sector, or 94.1% of all licenses issued, is indicative of Abu Dhabi's thriving economy. There were 25,647 new economic licenses issued in the year, while there were 75,778 license renewals, indicating a 3.5% growth rate. With 143,617 active licenses, the number of licenses increased by 10.9% from the previous year.
A major feature in Abu Dhabi's economic story is diversification, as evidenced by the notable expansion seen in industries including professional services, travel and tourism, manufacturing, and agriculture. Tourist permits increased by 22.35% to total 219, while new industrial licenses increased by an astounding 51.25% to 363. The industries related to agriculture, fishing, and livestock experienced significant expansion, rising by 288.46% in comparison to 2022.
Actual beneficiary requests increased by a remarkable 201.9%, from 16,282 to a whopping 49,163. This increase demonstrates the emirate's dedication to creating an atmosphere that encourages innovation and company expansion.
