UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. The new orders subindex rose sharply to 59.3 in December from 58.0 in the previous month, reflecting strong domestic demand. UAE Ambassador to Pakistan joins Ecothon 2023 marathon to promote climate resilience

The UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Al Zaabi, recently made headlines by running in the Ecothon 2023 marathon in Islamabad on February 26, 2023. The UAE Embassy organized the marathon in collaboration with the Prime Minister's Youth Programme and other partners to promote climate resilience. 

The event was open to the general public and attracted a large number of local and foreign athletes, officials, ambassadors, and representatives of the diplomatic community. This was a great opportunity for people to come together and raise awareness about the urgent need to tackle climate change.

The UAE is set to host the UN Conference of Parties, COP28, in November 2023, and is focused on building bridges to support vulnerable countries like Pakistan in tackling climate change. Ambassador Zaabi's participation in the marathon is a clear indication of the UAE's commitment to this cause.

During the event, Ambassador Zaabi emphasized the importance of economic development and conservation of the environment. He appealed to civil society to drive "Climate Action" across key sectors to reduce emissions and build resilience. This is an important message, as it highlights the need for a collective effort to address the climate crisis.
