Protecting Our Children Online is a Collective Responsibility

Collective Responsibility

Dr. Mohammed Al Kuwaiti's inaugural speech at the first international conference on the protection and safety of Emirati children from the dangers of using the Internet and smart devices served as a reminder of the importance of protecting our children's digital well-being.

As the world becomes more digitally connected, children are increasingly exposed to online dangers such as cyberbullying, online predators, and inappropriate content. It is our responsibility as parents, educators, and society to ensure their online safety.

The Emirates Safer Internet Society, under the patronage of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, is taking a proactive approach in addressing this issue. The conference highlighted the objectives of the Emirates Safer Internet Association and its efforts to protect children from the dangers of using the unsafe Internet and promote positive citizenship in the digital world.

One of the key takeaways from the conference is the importance of cooperation between various parties, including parents, educators, and civil organizations, to ensure the safety and well-being of children in the digital world. It is not enough to rely solely on technology or regulations; we must work together to educate our children and equip them with the skills to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.

Furthermore, the conference's emphasis on the role of participation and civil partnerships in promoting digital well-being is crucial. It is essential to involve children in the discussion and decision-making process to empower them to become responsible digital citizens.

Finally, protecting our children online is a shared responsibility. To ensure their safety and well-being in the digital world, it is necessary for parents, educators, and society to work together. Let us work together to make the internet a safe and positive place for our children, preparing them to be responsible and conscious citizens in the digital age.
