UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. Most Arab youths want to live in the UAE: Survey

Arab youth have named the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the country they would most like to live in, according to the results of the 14th Annual ASDA’A BCW Arab Youth Survey.

Almost two-thirds (57 per cent) of Arab men and women aged between 18 and 24 identify the UAE as their top choice to live in. The United States is in the second position with 24 per cent and Canada is in the third position with 20 per cent of the votes.

According to the Arab Youth Survey, the largest study of the MENA region’s largest demographic, around 51 per cent of North African youth also said that the UAE was their preferred country to live in.

For the 11th year running, the UAE is also the country most Arab youths want their own to be like. The model nation for 37 per cent of Arab youth overall, the UAE ranked ahead of the US (22 per cent), Canada (18 per cent), Germany (14 per cent), France (11 per cent) and Turkey (11 per cent).

This year, ASDA’A BCW, the MENA region’s leading communications consultancy, commissioned IDS Research & Consultancy to conduct face-to-face interviews with 3,400 young Arabs from May 13 to June 16 in 50 cities across 17 Arab states.

According to the research, the top five attractions of the UAE are its growing economy with 27 per cent of votes, its safe and secure environment (26 per cent), its generous salary packages and the wide range of work opportunities (22 per cent), and the UAE’s effective leadership (17 per cent).

Arab youth also appreciated the UAE’s quality of education system, the ease of starting a business in the country, and the UAE’s low taxes.

Nearly half of the UAE citizens (48 per cent) interviewed during the research also said it was easy to find a job in the country.
