UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. The new orders subindex rose sharply to 59.3 in December from 58.0 in the previous month, reflecting strong domestic demand.  1. Sailing Yacht ‘A’ - Germany - 142.81 Meters

The first place is occupied by the sailing yacht named - A, simple and uncomplicated, but large and commanding respect.

It is believed that Melnichenko assigned such a name to his yachts that even the ship registered to be the first, under the letter ‘A’ in  2017.

 Sailing yacht "A" by Andrey Melnichenko, built by the German shipyard Nobiskrug, and designed by the legendary Philippe Starck.

She was handed over to the owner's representatives in February 2017 and is currently undergoing final sea trials in the Mediterranean.

 This sailing yacht is one of the most iconic and recognizable yachts in the world. Her Russian owner Andrey Melnichenko describes her as a motor yacht with three 100m masts.

Diesel engines allow a maximum speed of 21 knots and a maximum range of 5320 nautical miles at 16 knots.

 2. Sea Cloud - Germany - 96.35 Meters

Sea Cloud was designed by Cox & Stevens and built by Hassar for Friedrich Krupp in 1931 in Kiel.

Then, having served during the Second World War, she became owned by the dictator of the Dominican Republic, Rafael Trujillo, who renamed her "Angelita", then Clifford Barbour, who renamed her "Antarna".

She was restored in 1978 by the new German owners, who changed their name back to Sea Cloud. She has a crew of 60 and 34 guest cabins and is now available for charter all year round.

 3. Maltese Falcon - Turkey - 88.00 Meters

The Maltese Falcon was built in 2006 for American venture capitalist Tom Perkins and is now owned by Greek-born Elena Ambrosiadou.

The legendary three-masted schooner is the third largest sailing yacht in the world. The superyacht produces a record 24 knots under sail. The yacht has accommodation for 12 guests and is available for charter.

 4.  Aquijo - Netherlands - 85.90 meters

The long awaited superyacht "Aquijo" is the result of a collaboration between  Oceanco and Vitters Shipyard in 2015.

Both Dutch yards  worked closely with  the owner's representative to create this high-tech sailing-focused yacht, which has become the fourth largest sailing superyacht.

She is an aluminum ketch. The layout of the interior provides clear lines of sight, thanks to the high superstructure.

 5. EOS (EOS) - Germany - 82.60 Meters

EOS was built in Germany in 2006 under the cloak of secrecy for the American media and movie mogul Barry Diller.

This three-masted Bermuda-flagged schooner was upgraded in 2011. After getting out of repair, she caught fire in Norway and was forced to dock again.
