History of National Doughnut Day
Tradition has it that this day is actually a
tribute to the women volunteers of the Salvation Army.
During the First World War, donuts were given
to soldiers to give them a little joy with a nostalgic product of their country
and their family.
Donut Day dates back to World War II, when a
doctor named Morgan Pett gave a lieutenant general a donut.
After that gesture, the lieutenant raised
funds to replicate this action with soldiers put into battle. But it was not
until 1938, when this celebration became official.
Celebration of National Doughnut Day
Currently, international donut chains
commemorate this fact by giving away donuts to the public.
For example, Dunkin' Donuts invites the public
to take her favorite donut with the purchase of another product and Krispy
Kreme is not far behind with her dozen glazed donuts and a free coffee.

“GADCO's
