UAE’s Lifeline to Lebanon: 18th Aid Plane Delivers Vital Medical Supplies Amidst Crisis

  The United Arab Emirates has dispatched its 18th aid aircraft carrying 40 tonnes of essential medical supplies to Lebanon as part of the “UAE Stands with Lebanon” campaign. This ongoing initiative, launched in early October, aims to provide critical food, medical, and shelter supplies to the Lebanese population, who continue to face severe hardships due to ongoing conflict. In close collaboration with international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), UAE humanitarian organizations are playing a pivotal role in delivering life-saving aid to Lebanon’s vulnerable communities. UAE becomes approves Covid-19 vaccine for children aged three and above


 The United Arab Emirates has approved vaccines for children of the age group three to 17 on Monday after thorough consideration. With this, this country has joined China, who also had earlier approved Sinopharm for the same group.

The UAE's Ministry of Health and Prevention on Monday said, “The decision comes after clinical trials and extensive evaluations and is based on the emergency-use authorisation and local evaluations.”

The ministry also said that the decision to approve the emergence use of vaccines has come only after a trial involving 900 childrens has been successfully conducted. The data came after the officials involved in the trials thanked the children who were willingly part of the process which was conducted to ensure effectiveness and safety of the vaccines for this particular age group.

Earlier in June, China also had approved the Covid-19 vaccines for three to 17 based on the preliminary results from Phase I and II clinical trials. The trials revealed that the vaccines had full possibility of showing an immune response in the children of this age group and even if there were any adverse reactions, it was only mild. 

On Sunday, the principal investigator for Phase III Sinopharm trials of the arab nation and also the chief medical officer at the capital's Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Dr Nawal Al Kaabi said that he is thankful of everyone who participated in the trials and supported the country’s efforts in tackling the virus spread.

He also stressed that the willingness to participate in the trial and the cooperation shows people’s trust in the UAE government’s recovery plan and its dedication for the rapid vaccination drive. The UAE has rolled out one of the fastest vaccination programmes in the world with 16.8 million shots administered till now in a population of close to 10 million
