The United Arab Emirates has sent ten humanitarian aid convoys to the Gaza Strip as part of its ongoing relief effort. This campaign, carried out under the "Gallant Knight 3" operation, seeks to offer critical food supplies, medical aid, and other requirements to Palestinians affected by the ongoing situation. Despite the challenges on the ground, the UAE's leadership has reaffirmed its commitment to humanitarian assistance, ensuring that relief reaches those in critical need. UAE announces coronavirus vaccines for armed forces of the country at a conference

In a latest development in its fight against the novel coronavirus, the country has given covdi-19 vaccine to over 30,000 Armed Forces personnel and national service recruits. Last few weeks have seen the United Arab Emirates delegates receiving vaccines by the healthcare officers.

This initiative has been taken with the aim to safeguard the interest of Armed personnels and support them as they fight to protect the nation, confirms Brig Gen Dr Aysha Al Dhaheri, commander of the Medical Services Corps.

Recently the UAE allowed usage of the vaccine developed by the combined effort of UAE sciences and the Chinese manufacturer Sinophram. The decision was taken only after phase three trials of the ‘inactivated vaccine’ was started. As of now, the vaccine was revised by the healthcare officials, senior officers, people in power like the UAE Cabinet, including Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, who is also the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai.

“When the trial came we encouraged a large number of our population to participate. We set up dedicated vaccination centres across the Emirates and the goal is to vaccinate all our military population,” said Dr Al Dhaheri in an event organised by the defense ministry.

Through the event, international cooperation in fighting the virus was concluded to be the key in handling the situation. She asserted that the Emirates were working closely with Israeli officials to develop a covid-19 breathalyzer test capable of detecting covid-19 cases in just 30 seconds. Most of the countries are dependent on PCR tests to detect the presence of viruses, which might be efficient but can take a longer period to give the result.

In the same conference, Mohamed Al Bawardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs also emphasised on combining and collaborating efforts in fighting the battle against the virus. He focused on more agencies coming together and that should not be limited to tackling the virus but also concentrate on mutual concern

He added, “Whereas the modern threats may not be confined to specific geographical areas, but rather extend across state borders, the importance of cooperation between states and building international alliances in the face of crises is therefore evident.”

One of the core announcements made during the conference was when it was revealed that the Ministry of Defense will try and involve young people in the initiative that aims to help the community. The campaign is called ‘We innovate to defend’. Under this campaign, the ministry will encourage the coming age of people to share their vision in analysing how to enhance the nation’s defence strategies in the next 50 years.
