PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. Israel hurries launching flight services to the UAE

Since the United Arab Emirates officially announced opening borders and diplomatic talks with Israel, relations between the two are rapidly escalating and the latest addition is launching flights between the two countries.

To go by the latest development, Israelis may start boarding non-stop flights to the UAE, which in itself is an achievement considering the hostility shown by the middle east to Israel just a few months ago. There are talks of launching three Israeli airlines to Dubai as Dubai is the only Emirate that is allowing forign visitors at present.

First few flights will be launched by the end of November itself, which will be a mix of Boeing 737-900ER and 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, reported by the foreign media. The first commercial flight between the two nations was flown in August by El Al which carried delegations from both Israel and UAE and also included Jared Kushner who is credited with brokering the deal.

Gradually, flights from other airlines will also be launched for the UAE. After November, in December Arkia, the second-largest airline in Israel, will launch its flight to the Emirati nation. UAE is yet to launch its airlines services for Israel and Emirate, Etihad have not given their take on it.

All the flights are directed to Dubai due to the strict coronavirus precautions followed by the UAE government to control the virus spread.

The relations between the officials of the two countries are slowly normalising especially after UAE’s authorities made their first official visit to Israel where they agreed to ease travel and upgrade West Bank checkpoints. Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyayu had earlier said, “Today we are making history.” He added, “the enthusiasm for this peace agreement among our peoples is enormous, it’s real, it’s broad, it’s deep.”

This development in the relations will be hugely benefitting the people creating job opportunities for as many as 15,000 new jobs. Trade will also be hugely important. Reports also said that ‘many exports are likely to be technology based, including cyber-security, as well as the latest innovations in medicine and agriculture.’

UAE was the first nation to normalise relations with Israel through a historic peace deal negotiated by the US after Egypt and Jordan. It agreed to allow 28 direct flights per week as per a statement from Israel’s Transportation Ministry.

It was only last month when Israel’s parliament officially passed and recognised the deal between UAE and itself. The parliamentary actions were just a formality after Israel’s say in the majority and voting ratio of 80-13. The deal marks a shift of the Middle Eastern countries from boycotting Israel and not recognising its government.

Soon after the UAE, Bahrain also opened its borders for the country.
