UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. The new orders subindex rose sharply to 59.3 in December from 58.0 in the previous month, reflecting strong domestic demand. President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed President Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to the Beach Palace for a high-level discussion, underscoring the UAE's commitment to forging strong partnerships with African states. The discussions, which covered a wide range of themes, centered on increasing bilateral collaboration in a variety of industries.

One of the primary topics of discussion was the diversification and promotion of investments in the developmental, economic, commercial, and renewable energy sectors. Both presidents discussed matters of mutual interest, highlighting the UAE and DRC's strong bilateral relations.
The summit focused on the UAE's strategic approach to economic development and international engagement. By partnering with the DRC, the UAE hopes to contribute to the region's progress and stability. The relationship between the two countries is intended to yield real benefits for both nations while also strengthening ties between the UAE and African countries.
