Joby Aviation has signed a milestone agreement with Dubai's Road and Transport Authority to operate an electric air taxi service in the city. With starting operations scheduled for 2025 and exclusive rights secured for six years, this strategic agreement puts Dubai at the forefront of innovative air mobility worldwide.
RTA chief Mattar Al Tayer welcomed the agreement, reaffirming Dubai's commitment to sustainable mobility innovation. The air taxi network offers 10-minute journeys between key sites such as airports and Palm Jumeirah, significantly reducing travel times compared to road congestion.
In addition to the cooperation, the initial vertiport sites have been confirmed. Residents and visitors will have easy access to the future of mobility and present infrastructure beginning in 2026.
This is a significant step towards His Highness Sheikh Mohammed's ambition of Dubai as a global leader in aerial transportation technology implementation. Positioning the emirate at the intersection of investment and operations ensures first-mover advantages in air taxi services worldwide.
