Since the United Nations adopted a resolution in 2020, February 4th has been observed yearly. This day serves as a poignant reminder of the necessity of coexisting peacefully. The UAE's proposal to bring Pope Francis and Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, together on February 4, 2019, in Abu Dhabi, is the source of the International Day for Human Fraternity. The "Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together," which was signed at this historic summit, established the framework for a year in which the United Arab Emirates will be devoted to tolerance.

The United Arab Emirates proclaimed 2019 to be the "Year of Tolerance," symbolizing a dedication to creating a global community in which diversity is honored and harmony triumphs over conflict. The UAE's crucial role in starting this worldwide celebration highlights its commitment to advancing equity, peace, and cultural diversity in the global arena.
