UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. The new orders subindex rose sharply to 59.3 in December from 58.0 in the previous month, reflecting strong domestic demand. This  year  Water scarcity is no longer a regional problem; it is a global one that transcends borders and affects every country. Population growth, industrialization, and climate change have all put significant strain on the world's freshwater resources. According to the discussion paper, approximately two billion people are currently experiencing moderate to severe water stress, with the number expected to skyrocket in the next decades. Immediate and concerted action is required to limit the consequences. 

Proven that the United Arab Emirates has been at the forefront of solving water scarcity through new solutions. Because of its expertise in desalination technology, water-efficient agriculture, and responsible usage, the country is a global leader in water management. The discussion paper draws on the UAE's experiences and contributions, underlining the value of international collaboration and knowledge exchange in developing effective methods.  

 In its discussion paper, the UAE calls for global collaboration, recognising the interdependence of the water crisis. It encourages international cooperation in areas such as research, innovation, and policy implementation. The UAE supports the establishment of an international water security framework in which countries may share best practises and work together to address this essential issue. It also emphasises the significance of water diplomacy in international relations, since equitable access to water is essential for peace and stability.
