  The United Arab Emirates has dispatched its 18th aid aircraft carrying 40 tonnes of essential medical supplies to Lebanon as part of the “UAE Stands with Lebanon” campaign. This ongoing initiative, launched in early October, aims to provide critical food, medical, and shelter supplies to the Lebanese population, who continue to face severe hardships due to ongoing conflict. In close collaboration with international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), UAE humanitarian organizations are playing a pivotal role in delivering life-saving aid to Lebanon’s vulnerable communities. Critics worry that a third term could lead to power consolidation and a reduction in the room for opposing voices. Egypt's democratic transition must find a balance between stability and a vibrant multiparty system.    

Egypt must retain democratic values while modernising and progressing. The decision made by the electorate in December will be a crucial signal of the country's commitment to both stability and democracy.

The presidential elections in Egypt will be a watershed point in the country's political history. The candidature of Egyptian President El Sisi provides an opportunity for Egyptians to contemplate on the way forward, balancing the need for stability with the imperative of a dynamic democracy. It is time for Egypt to determine its future vision.
