Egypt's Presidential Elections: A Look at President El Sisi's Campaign

Egypt

President El Sisi announced his candidature with the vow to "continue the dream" and prioritise modernity and democracy. While these goals are desirable, there are questions about how a protracted presidency may affect Egypt's political pluralism and civil liberties.

The presidential elections in Egypt will be a watershed point in the country's political history. The candidature of Egyptian President El Sisi provides an opportunity for Egyptians to contemplate on the way forward, balancing the need for stability with the imperative of a dynamic democracy. It is time for Egypt to determine its future vision.
