UAE Non-Oil Business Activity Surges to Nine-Month High in December

 The United Arab Emirates' non-oil private sector recorded its fastest expansion in nine months in December 2024, buoyed by strong domestic demand and increased business activity, according to the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) report. PMI Highlights Robust Growth The seasonally adjusted UAE PMI climbed to 55.4 in December from 54.2 in November, signaling robust growth well above the 50.0 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. This marked the third consecutive monthly increase, underscoring sustained recovery in the non-oil sector. Key drivers of growth included a notable rise in new business activity. The new orders subindex rose sharply to 59.3 in December from 58.0 in the previous month, reflecting strong domestic demand. Heads of WhatsApp India and Meta India Public Policy resign

Meta's country lead for public policy Rajiv Aggarwal also left his position today, the social media giant announced, two weeks after MetaIndia Head Ajit Mohan left his position to accept another position at rival Snap. Abhijit Bose, the head of WhatsApp India, also announced his resignation in a statement released by Meta.

The statement wished Rajiv Aggarwal the best of luck in his future endeavours and noted that he had made the decision to leave his position at Meta to pursue another opportunity.

Abhijit Bose was the first Head of WhatsApp in India, and Will Cathcart, the company's CEO, thanked him for his "tremendous contributions."

"His spirit of entrepreneurship aided our group in providing innovative services that have assisted millions of individuals and organisations. WhatsApp has so much more to offer India, and we're eager to keep advancing India's digital transformation "said Mr. Cathcart.

Shivnath Thukral has been appointed as Director of Public Policy for Meta in India across all of the tech giant's platforms, the company also revealed.

Additionally, Mr. Bose made his resignation known on LinkedIn, expressing his "really excitement" for his upcoming position. I intend to return to the business world after a brief break, he said.
