EDGE and Brazilian Navy Join Forces to Develop Advanced Anti-Drone Systems

UAE aims to vaccinate 50% of the total population in the first quarter of 2021

 


The United Arab Emirates has started vaccinating residents against the coronavirus through various vaccination campaigns and till now, it has already vaccinated nearly eight percent of the total population with the Covid-19 vaccine.

The official spokesperson of the UAE Health Sector Dr. Farida Al Hosani said that from the time the vaccination drive has started, 826,301 Covid-19 vaccines have been administered which equals 47,000 doses on a per day basis, which is eight percent of the total population further confirming NCEMA data given during the official press briefing Tuesday.

"We aim to reach more than 50 per cent of the country's population during the first quarter of this year. This will help us reduce cases in general, reduce critical cases in particular, and control the disease better in the next phase," she said.

But having said that, authorities have also addressed the increasing Covid-19 cases in the country and have also said that in the next stage precautionary measures will be taken. "Our goal in the next stage is to control the increase in the number of cases by reviewing the precautionary measures applied in establishments and institutions and emphasizing the commitment of all members of society to preventive measures."

She further said that the vaccination campaigns will focus targeting as many people as possible and making them acquire the immunity or strengthen their immunity through the vaccine shots. Through this, the UAE aims at reducing the number of cases.

When it comes to the priority list of the vaccination, elderly and those with chronic health diseases will be given priority over others. The vaccinations will be given based on the categories. The vaccine has been proven to be 100 percent safe for their use especially for those who are above 60 years of age, says Dr. Farida while also urging everyone to get vaccinated.
